Wynberg Court Shooting: State’s Murder Probe Nears Completion

The State has confirmed that its investigation into the deadly shooting inside the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court is at an advanced stage. The attack, which left Dingalomoya Chintso dead in April, shocked the public due to its brazen nature inside a courtroom.

Five suspects remain in custody as the case progresses. They are Shireen Mathews, Abubaker Adams, Brian Booysen, Wanay Farao, and Vuyisani Zengethwa. All are accused of being involved in planning and executing the killing.

Alleged Mastermind Identified in Wynberg Court Murder Plot

Prosecutors allege that Mathews played a central role, describing her as the mastermind behind the courthouse shooting. The State’s case suggests she contacted her co-accused, Brian Booysen, on the day of the murder to secure firearms.

According to investigators, phone records show Mathews instructing Booysen to enlist Adams and Zengethwa to carry out the fatal hit. Prosecutors believe the planning was extensive and executed with precision.

The State has linked the suspects to the Junky Funky Kids gang and is still analyzing cellphone data that could strengthen its case.

Video footage reportedly shows an e-hailing vehicle, allegedly requested by Mathews, dropping off and collecting Booysen and the hitmen outside the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court on 8 April.

The case has been postponed to 20 November to allow investigators time to finalize evidence gathering before proceedings continue.
