According to the report, before she was kidnapped, Mtshayisa typically takes a minibus taxi from the M4 in La Mercy after work but did not arrive home on Tuesday.

Instead, she made a distressing call to a cousin in Umlazi, claiming she had been kidnapped and would only be released if R3,000 was paid to her via e-wallet.

In the brief call, Mtshayisa allegedly told her cousin that she was being held in a sugarcane field.

The line was disconnected shortly after. RUSA stated that the cousin subsequently received six threatening voice notes from the suspected kidnappers, demanding payment in exchange for Mtshayisa’s freedom.
