Woman Arrested In East London With R3 Million Worth Of Drugs

A 36-year-old woman was apprehended in East London on Saturday after being allegedly found in possession of crystal meth, also known as tik, with an estimated street value of R3 million.

The arrest followed information received by the police regarding a woman traveling on a passenger bus from Bloemfontein in the Free State to the Eastern Cape who might be carrying drugs.

The police acted on this information and tracked the bus to the Windmill Roadhouse bus station. Upon arrival, they identified a female passenger who matched the description provided.

The police spokesperson, Captain Hazel Mqala, stated in a press release that they requested permission from the suspect to search her bag, which she granted.

During the search, law enforcement officials discovered 15 bricks of crystal meth weighing approximately 20.5kg. The estimated street value of the seized drugs amounted to R3 million. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody and is expected to appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face charges of drug dealing.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking and the illegal distribution of narcotics. The successful operation serves as a reminder of the importance of information sharing and proactive policing in curbing drug-related crimes.
