However, after thorough investigation by the police, it was revealed that no kidnapping had occurred.

According to Free State police spokesperson Captain Loraine Earle, the situation was the result of a complex illegal adoption arranged between the woman and the child’s biological mother.

Upon further questioning authorities determined that the biological mother had legally reclaimed her child on March 9, 2025, from the woman who had been raising him.

The Illegal Adoption Arrangement

According to police, the Bultfontein woman had formed a relationship with the biological mother via Facebook.

The two women allegedly made an arrangement before the child’s birth, with the biological mother agreeing to hand over the baby shortly after birth.

This arrangement led to an illegal adoption that lasted for two years.

The biological mother had reportedly given birth in Bloemfontein, but soon after, the child was handed over to the woman in Bultfontein, who then raised the child as her own.

However, after two years, the biological mother decided to reclaim her son, prompting the false kidnapping report.

Fraudulent Child Registration Exposed

In addition to the false kidnapping claim, investigators discovered that the biological mother had fraudulently registered the child at Home Affairs using the identity document of the woman from Bultfontein.

This registration was part of the illegal adoption scheme that the two women had devised.

Authorities have confirmed that the child is now in the care of Phuthaditjhaba Social Services, ensuring his well-being following the exposure of the fraudulent adoption.

Charges of Fraud and Human Trafficking

Both the Bultfontein woman and the biological mother now face serious charges of fraud and human trafficking.

The authorities are continuing their investigation into the case to determine the full extent of the illegal adoption and to ensure that justice is served.

The two women are expected to face court proceedings in the coming weeks.
