Woman Arrested After E-Hailing Driver Murder Caught On Video

Gauteng police have arrested a woman in connection with the brutal killing of an e-hailing driver in Pretoria West.

The arrest follows a disturbing incident that unfolded on Wednesday, 11 February 2026, and has since sparked outrage after a video of the attack circulated on social media.

E-Hailing Driver Attacked and Vehicle Found in Atteridgeville

South African Police Service spokesperson Mavela Masondo said early investigations suggest the driver had responded to a ride request in Pretoria West.

According to police, the victim was ambushed by a man and a woman who had requested the trip.

“The driver’s hijacked vehicle and his body were later discovered in Atteridgeville on the same day,” said Masondo.

Authorities confirmed that the vehicle and the victim’s body were found hours after the attack.

Disturbing Video Sparks Outrage Online

Footage circulating online shows a woman wearing a bucket hat and white T-shirt seated in the front passenger seat, while a man in the back allegedly assaults the driver.

The video captures the moment the attacker appears to overpower the victim while the vehicle is still in motion. After the driver becomes unresponsive, he is moved to the back seat, and another man is seen taking control of the vehicle.

The clip was widely shared after being posted on X by anti-crime activist Yusuf Abramjee.

Police expressed strong condemnation over the distribution of the footage.

“The police strongly condemn the circulation of the video that depicts what appears to be a gruesome murder of the victim,” said Masondo.

Authorities have urged members of the public to refrain from sharing, forwarding or reposting the video.

The arrested woman is expected to appear before the Atteridgeville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 16 February 2026.

She faces charges of murder and car hijacking.

Masondo confirmed that investigations remain ongoing and indicated that more arrests could follow as police track down additional suspects linked to the crime.

The case has intensified concerns around the safety of e-hailing drivers, with law enforcement under pressure to bring all perpetrators to justice.
