Witness In Murder Trial Seeks Protection From SAPS Officer

A murder witness, known only by his initials as Mr. M, has turned to the Gauteng High Court, Johannesburg, for urgent protection against a female SAPS officer who he claims has been threatening his life and that of his family.

Mr. M, a witness in a murder trial, alleges that the officer has been sending him threatening text messages, despite her claims that she is not the one responsible.

Threats And Intimidation

The court heard that the threats against the murder witness, Mr. M and his family have been ongoing for nearly two years, with messages sent from seven different cell phone numbers.

The messages are graphic and violent, with the author stating that Mr. M and his family will be killed “like dogs.”

The threats also include derogatory racial remarks and details about the witness,Mr. M’s movements and car.

Court’s Decision

Judge Stuart Wilson interdicted the officer from harming the murderer witness and his family, giving her until June 4 to state her side to the court.

The court’s decision comes after the murder witness,  Mr. M obtained a protection order against the officer, which was seemingly ignored.

The officer has also opened a case of fraud against whomever used her identity to obtain the cell number that sent one of the messages.

Life Guard Shot Dead In Bester, KZN

In an unrelated event, a 33-year-old life guard, Zamiso Otto Ngcobo, was tragically shot dead on Monday morning while on his way to work in Area 1, Bester, KZN.

The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) Phoenix Operations Center received a distress call at 8:50 am, and upon arrival, paramedics and reaction officers found Ngcobo with multiple gunshot wounds.

Despite efforts to save him, he was declared deceased at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

The police are currently investigating the motive behind the shooting, and suspect details have not been established.

Spent 9mm cartridges were found at the scene, and it is unclear if Ngcobo’s licensed handgun, which he usually carried, was taken.

Ngcobo was employed by the municipality as a life guard at a swimming pool in Kwa Mashu, KZN. The community is in shock, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
