Witness Details Police Raid On Katiso Molefe’s Sandhurst Mansion In Transnet Tender Probe

The Madlanga Commission of Inquiry has heard fresh details about a dramatic police raid on businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe’s Sandhurst mansion in 2024.

According to Witness A, law enforcement officials executed a search and seizure operation as part of an investigation into the murder of Vereeniging engineer Armand Swart. The witness testified that documents linked to Transnet tenders and several pages of handwritten signatures were discovered inside the luxury property.

Swart, who headed engineering firm Q-Tech, was reportedly targeted after exposing alleged price inflation involving the SK Group, which supplied Transnet Freight Rail with products sourced from Q-Tech. He was fatally shot outside his company’s premises in April 2024.

Tender Documents and Signature Pages Found During Search

Witness A told the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry that police uncovered “troves of documents” connected to Transnet tenders during the December 2024 raid.

“These documents were relating to different companies. It seems like these documents had a lot to do with Transnet, applying for tenders with Transnet, registration for companies,” the witness stated.

Molefe allegedly distanced himself from the files, claiming that his son and nephew had been using the office where the paperwork was discovered.

“There was about two pages that were full of signatures that you could see this person was practising signatures using different pens,” Witness A added.

The inquiry also heard that members of the Hawks arrived during the operation and demanded to be briefed on the situation. Witness A testified that they were acting on the instructions of former national Hawks head, Godfrey Lebeya.
