Wife Arrested For Alleged Hit On EMPD Officer, More Suspects Sought

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) has confirmed that more arrests are imminent in connection with the murder of Officer Banele Sikhosana, who was gunned down last week in KwaThema, east of Johannesburg.

Wife Accused of Orchestrating Murder

Authorities arrested Sikhosana’s wife on Friday, alleging that she hired hitmen to kill her husband. Three suspects are currently in custody, with police tracking additional suspects, including the alleged organiser of the hit, who is believed to be in the Free State.

Acting EMPD Chief Julius Mkhwanazi stated: “Their colleagues who were planning together with them are behind bars. We are left with two or three suspects, and we are tracking them. We will be driving to the Free State to get the organiser of this hit.”

Confession and Pending Court Appearance

One of the arrested suspects has reportedly confessed, claiming they were paid to carry out the hit, with the balance of the payment settled after Sikhosana was killed.

All three suspects, including Sikhosana’s wife, are set to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 17 February.

Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
