Western Cape Underworld Businessman Mark Lifman Shot Dead In George

Mark Lifman, a well-known figure within the Western Cape underworld, was shot dead on Sunday in George. The incident took place in the parking lot of the Garden Route Mall around 11:30 AM.

Eyewitnesses reported hearing gunfire, leading to a chaotic scene as the assailants fled the area shortly after the shooting.

Police Investigation

Western Cape police have confirmed their presence at the scene and have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut stated, “the circumstances of the incident are now the subject of a police investigation, and more information cannot be disclosed at this stage.”

The authority has also indicated that they are not yet ready to release the identity of the victim, although local reports had already confirmed Lifman’s involvement.

Mark Lifman was not only known for his controversial business dealings but also for his entanglements with legal troubles. He had been previously charged with the murder of Brian Wainstein, who was shot dead in his Constantia home in August 2017.
