Caught On Camera! Western Cape Police Officer Wanted After Cash-Pocketing Raid Video Goes Viral

Western Cape police are searching for one of their own after a four-minute video, which appears to show a uniformed officer pocketing cash during what looks like an official raid, spread rapidly on social media.

The footage, date-stamped 20 February 2026, shows an officer inside a room where a clearly visible CCTV camera records his actions.

CCTV Footage Appears to Show Police Officer Taking Cash

In the video, the officer enters the room and appears to notice a bag filled with cash. After briefly scanning his surroundings, he walks towards the bag and places his hands inside.

He is then seen removing what appears to be money and stepping behind a cupboard before slipping it into his pocket.

Moments later, he returns to the bag for a second time. The officer appears visibly uneasy as he searches for a place to conceal the cash. He initially places it under his jersey, removes it, and eventually tucks it into the back of his trousers.

The footage shows him approaching the bag a third time, placing more of what appears to be cash into his lower pocket before moving the bag closer to a bed.

Second Officer Enters as Search Continues

A second officer then enters the room. The first officer can be heard commenting about the “lots of ganja” allegedly discovered at the premises.

However, he appears to return to the bag once more while his colleague continues searching the room, seemingly unaware of what has taken place. The video shows him removing what appears to be the remaining cash and placing it into his back pocket.

Outside the property, a marked South African Police Service vehicle linked to Steenberg SAPS can be seen.
