Western Cape Police Arrest Trio In R500k Cellphone Heist Across Khayamandi

Western Cape police have apprehended three suspects believed to be involved in the theft of cellphones valued at approximately R500,000. The alleged robbery occurred at a retail store in Khayamandi on Thursday afternoon, prompting a swift police investigation.

Authorities tracked the suspects to Kruskal Avenue in Bellville, where all three were arrested. Police seized a total of 51 cellphones during the operation, which had been stolen not only from the Khayamandi store but also from another shop in Bellville.
Court Appearance Looms for Suspects Facing Stolen Property Charges
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk confirmed the arrests, stating the suspects are expected to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of stolen property.

“The members confiscated altogether 51 cellular telephones that were robbed at the store in Khayamandi, as well as a different shop in Bellville. The combined estimated value of these devices are R500,000,” Van Wyk said.
