KwaZulu-Natal police uncovered a clandestine operation manufacturing counterfeit hair products in a house at Somerset Place, Farningham Ridge, Pinetown, leading to the arrest of four suspects on Tuesday afternoon.
Factory Disguised as Residential Home
Authorities, following leads on a stolen flow bin reported in Westmead on Sunday, discovered the house was being used to produce illicit hair products. Police spokesperson Col Robert Netshiunda revealed that the operation was linked to a foreign national pastor, who also owns a church in Umbilo.
Counterfeit Products Found
Two undocumented foreign nationals were arrested after being found hiding in the ceiling, while two women, one also a foreign national, were detained on-site. The stolen flow bin was recovered alongside invoices suggesting the counterfeit products were sold to wholesalers, retailers, and salons in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape.

A vehicle branded with the pastor’s image and promotional material for the hair products was found parked at the property, further implicating the operation’s link to a broader distribution network.
An initial investigation revealed that the barcodes on the products did not match their listed contents and instead corresponded to legitimate products from a North American company. The suspects, aged between 34 and 37, are expected to appear before the Pinetown Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
