“Waiting For Anele’s Inquest” Moses Tembe Remains Silent As Suspects Arrested In AKA Murder Case

The recent arrests of seven suspects linked to the killing of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes have left Moses Tembe, the father of the late Anele Tembe, with nothing to say. AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane were tragically murdered outside a restaurant in Durban in February 2023.

Over a year later, the South African Police Services (SAPS) announced the arrest of six suspects, with two of them found hiding in Eswatini. The total number of suspects now stands at seven.

However, when questioned about the arrests, Moses Tembe, a well-known businessman, declined to comment and referred all inquiries to the family spokesperson, Manqoba Zulu.

Zulu explained that Tembe will not be available to comment until after the inquest into his daughter’s death has been completed. Anele, also known as “Nelli,” fell to her death from a hotel in Cape Town in April 2021. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) ruled her death a suicide, but her family disputes this conclusion.

In a scathing letter to the NPA, the Tembe family accused AKA of killing their daughter. They highlighted defensive marks on AKA’s body and disputed the theory that Anele climbed over the balcony. They also alleged that AKA cleaned up the hotel room after the incident and failed to provide immediate assistance to Anele.

The circumstances surrounding Anele’s death are the subject of an ongoing inquest. The NPA has opened a formal investigation, and the case is scheduled for a hearing at the Cape Town magistrate’s court in April. The investigating officer has maintained contact with the Tembe family throughout the process.

Amidst the tragedy, various conspiracy theories have emerged, including claims that Moses Tembe ordered a hit on AKA. However, the 61-year-old vehemently denies these accusations, labelling them as “untrue and without substance.”

He emphasises that his family would never be involved in such an abhorrent act and requests that individuals refrain from making baseless statements.

As the investigation continues and the inquest approaches, the silence from Moses Tembe speaks volumes. Only time will reveal the truth behind this heartbreaking and complex case.
