Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala Linked Once Again To Kidnapping Of Pretoria Businessman Jerry Boshoga, Madlanga Commission Told

Explosive revelations surfaced at the Madlanga Commission on Friday, where controversial businessman and alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala was once again implicated in the kidnapping of Pretoria entrepreneur Jerry Boshoga.

According to Witness C, a member of the GCI operations team, National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola had directed the team to investigate Boshoga’s disappearance in November 2024. The investigation led officers to Matlala’s Pretoria home, which they identified as a central location in the abduction case.

“Further information revealed that Mr Boshoga had been kept captive at the house of Vusimuzi Matlala,” testified Witness C.

Witness C told the Commission that on 6 December 2024, his team profiled Matlala and found a troubling criminal record, prompting a call for backup from the Special Task Force.

“We proceeded to the Special Task Force offices where my commander, together with a Forensic Science Laboratory expert, joined us, and we conducted a briefing,” he said, choosing not to disclose his commander’s identity for safety reasons.

Later that day, a 20-member tactical unit moved in on Matlala’s Pretoria mansion. “Upon arrival, combat members secured the premises to ensure it is safe for us to enter. Inside, we encountered two security guards, Mr Khoza and Mr Mokwana,” the witness recounted.

During a thorough search of the main house, officers discovered a Malawian national, Yusuf Mudupanyama, who said he worked as a general labourer at the property. Although Boshoga was not found, investigators made a chilling find — a torn white sheet tied to a window, matching one seen in ransom videos sent to Boshoga’s family.

“That made us believe that Boshoga might have been held at Matlala’s premises,” Witness C said. “You would not expect that kind of curtain in a mansion.”

Nearly a Year Later, the Family Still Awaits Answers

It has been almost a year since Boshoga’s abduction in Centurion, yet his family continues to endure unbearable uncertainty. They have received disturbing ransom videos showing him pleading for help, with the kidnappers reportedly demanding R10 million for his release.

Despite ongoing investigations, the case remains unsolved, and the Boshoga family is still waiting for answers about whether their loved one — a husband, father, and son — is alive.
