Vusi “Cat” Matlala Allegedly Paid R150K For Tebogo Thobejane’s Hit
Mzansi is reeling after explosive testimony at the Madlanga Commission revealed that Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala allegedly paid a whopping R150,000 to have his ex-girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, killed.
On Thursday, 30 October 2025, Witness C took the stand again — and this time, he didn’t hold back. The same witness who previously linked Matlala to the disappearance of businessman Jerry Boshoga has now detailed how Matlala allegedly ordered the hit on the actress and socialite.
According to the chilling testimony, Matlala allegedly made two payments — R50,000 before the attempted murder, and R100,000 after the job — into a business account belonging to Nthabiseng Nzama, the daughter of his alleged co-conspirator Floyd Tiego Mahusela.

“Mr Matlala, we regard you as a hit orderer,” Witness C stated before the commission.
“Days before the crime, on 12 July, a payment of R50,000 was made to Mr Mahusela’s daughter. Then, on the 18th, the day after the deed, another R100,000 was paid.”
Matlala Moves From Love to a Murder Plot?
Matlala — a businessman turned accused hit-buyer — is facing charges of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder, alongside Musa Kekana, Floyd Tiego Mahusela, and his own wife, Tsakani Matlala.
The shocking twist? Even Mahusela’s daughter, Nthabiseng Nzama, is also implicated in the case.
What’s left Mzansi shaken is not just the crime itself — but why anyone would want Tebogo dead. The actress, known for her role in Muvhango and her lavish lifestyle, has been lying low since the attack.
Mzansi Reacts: “R150K for a Whole Human Life?”
The story has exploded across social media, with netizens struggling to wrap their heads around the motive and the price tag. Here’s what people are saying online:
@katli3v3: “My question is, why would he want to kill his ex-girlfriend?”
@besencintsa: “One thing I’m getting — the money is huge, but the guys who pull the trigger only get R100K, eish.”
@FmmMoramaga: “Then Cat is going to jail for a long time.”
@agobakwe_m: “Is the life of someone really worth R150K? 💔”
@RamogayaneR: “So does Matlala get a refund now? This is not a joke. I just wonder how these things work.”
With multiple charges already stacking up — and the Commission still in session — insiders say this could be the final nail in Matlala’s legal coffin.
Social media users are now calling this “the wildest scandal since Senzo Meyiwa murder”.
