Viral Scholar Transport Drama: Driver Files Protection Order Against Matric Girl After Shocking Video

A scholar transport driver at the centre of a viral video showing a pupil being repeatedly slapped and dragged out of a minibus says he has now opened a protection order against the teenager.

The driver, Lungani “Magolide” Maswanganyi, revealed on Instagram that he was the person behind the wheel of the vehicle seen in the widely circulated footage.

The Roodepoort-based driver claims the matric pupil had previously displayed aggressive behaviour towards him and other learners, prompting ongoing concerns about her conduct.

Scholar Transport Driver alleges repeated incidents of violence and disruption

Maswanganyi said the pupil had frequently caused delays during school transport runs and had a history of disruptive behaviour.

“Sometimes when we had to go for home drop-offs, she would get out of the car, delaying others. Then when we got to her destination she refused to get out, and asked to be dropped elsewhere.

“She would often physically attack me,” he alleged. “At one point, she tore my clothes and damaged the car, for which her family compensated me.

“So I stopped being her driver and avoided her.”

He also claimed that the learner had, on several occasions, intimidated and harmed other pupils travelling in the vehicle.

Driver claims man seen slapping pupil is her brother

Explaining the events shown in the viral clip, Maswanganyi said the incident occurred while the pupil was allegedly harassing other learners inside the vehicle.

He said he attempted to talk to the teenager before removing her from the minibus, but she refused to cooperate.

“The guy seen slapping her multiple times is, in fact, her brother, who witnessed it all and reprimanded her.

“I have since taken out a protection order against her. I don’t want her anywhere near me.”

Meanwhile, the Gauteng Learner Transport Organisation confirmed earlier that it is investigating the incident.

At the time of publication, SurgeZirc SA had not been able to obtain comment from the teenager or her family.
