A storm is brewing behind the scenes at KwaZulu-Natal’s pride and powerhouse station Ukhozi FM, as presenters and producers are allegedly working without contracts — even though the 2025/2026 radio season is already on air!
According to Daily Sun, staff at the SABC-owned station are growing restless, with no official word on their job security. Sources say it’s all vibes and hope at this point.

“Some producers and presenters are working because they love their jobs, but they are worried about not signing contracts as they normally do at the start of the new season. No one knows how much they will get paid at the end of the month,” a staff member spilled anonymously.

Things got so tense that the MK party had to step in! Yep, it’s not just radio waves getting shaken — politics is in the mix now too.
Mlungisi Zondi, national coordinator of the MK party’s labour desk, came forward guns blazing, demanding answers for the “triggered” workers dealing with job insecurity.
He urged SABC management to expedite the process, saying the uncertainty is messing with people’s mental health and bread-and-butter stability. Talk about fighting for the people!
