Uitsig Mass Shooting Leaves Two Brothers Dead, Three Injured As Police Probe Attack

Two men were shot dead and three others injured during a mass shooting in Uitsig on Saturday night, as police launched an investigation into the attack.

The incident occurred at around 8:45pm in Uitsig Avenue, where a group of people had gathered near a gambling table when unknown gunmen opened fire.

Two Brothers  Killed, Three Wounded in Uitsig Avenue Shooting

According to police, the victims include two men aged 19 and 32, who were declared dead at the scene by medical personnel after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.

Three others — two men aged 19 and 29, and a 16-year-old girl — were injured and taken to a medical facility for treatment.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “Ravensmead police registered two counts of murder and three of attempted murder, following a shooting incident on Saturday night, 28 March 2026, at about 8.45pm, in Uitsig Avenue, Uitsig, where two males aged 19 and 32 were shot and fatally wounded, and three others, which include two males aged 19 and 29 and a 16-year-old girl wounded.

“Police members were patrolling in the area when they saw people running.

“They were informed by the public that several people were shot by unknown suspects who fled the scene.

“The 19 and 32-year-old victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the other victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment. The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation.”

Victims Identified as Uitsig Brothers

The deceased have been identified as brothers Luchen Samuels, 19, and Angelo Hufke, 32.

Reports indicate that the pair had just visited family shortly before the shooting and were among those standing in the area when the gunfire broke out.

A resident familiar with the victims said the shooting came as a shock to the community.

“It is shocking what happened. Those brothers were not involved in any gangsterism or wrongdoing; they are usually a large group who gamble or stand by the gambling table. When those shots went off, it was continuous, non-stop,” the resident said.

A community leader said the motive behind the attack remains unclear, adding that such incidents have a significant impact on residents.

“It is scary because any shooting that takes place has a negative effect on the community. The community then lives in fear because they think it is gang-related,” the leader said.

Police have not yet confirmed the motive for the shooting and investigations are ongoing.
