Two Women Shot Dead Outside Mitchells Plain School, 12-Year-Old Boy Injured

What began as an ordinary Thursday afternoon turned into tragedy when two women were shot dead and a 12-year-old boy injured outside Portlands Primary School in Mitchells Plain.
The shooting occurred at approximately 15:00 on Wespoort Drive, shocking parents and pupils as gunfire erupted near the school premises.
Domestic Dispute Behind Mitchells Plain Shooting
According to Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Wesley Twigg, the victims — aged 26 and 30 — were approached by a relative who allegedly opened fire.
“The younger woman was declared dead at the scene by medical personnel, while the second woman succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival at a local hospital,” Twigg said.

A 12-year-old boy who was caught in the crossfire was taken to hospital for treatment. The community has since rallied around the boy and his family, expressing shock and heartbreak over the violence.
Police believe the motive may be domestic in nature, although investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
Swift Arrest After Two Women Killed
In a rapid response, Mitchells Plain police arrested a 32-year-old male suspect shortly after the shooting. He remains in custody and is expected to appear before the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrate’s Court once formal charges are finalised.
Authorities have condemned the attack, urging the community to come forward with any additional information that could assist in the investigation.
