Two Wanted Fraud Suspects Arrested In Vryheid As Police Recover 77 Bank Cards

Two wanted fraud suspects were arrested in Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal, after police recovered dozens of bank cards and electronic payment devices during a focused operation on Sunday.

The arrests followed intelligence-led policing by dedicated officers who tracked the suspects as they travelled into the Vryheid Central Business District.

Vryheid Police Track Wanted Fraud Suspects

According to the South African Police Service, officers received information about wanted suspects travelling in a vehicle towards Vryheid. The suspects were linked to a fraud case registered at Nottingham Road Police Station.

Police immediately went on the lookout and later spotted the vehicle parked at a shopping centre with no occupants inside. Officers maintained surveillance until the suspects returned.

Once the men approached the vehicle, police moved in and arrested them.

77 Bank Cards and Speed Point Machines Seized

During a search of the vehicle, officers recovered seventy-seven (77) bank cards and two (2) speed point machines, all suspected to be linked to fraudulent activity.

The suspects, aged 47 and 50, were arrested for fraud and for being in possession of property suspected to be stolen.

Initial investigations revealed that the pair were not only wanted by detectives from Nottingham Road SAPS but were also being sought in other policing precincts.

Suspects to Appear in Vryheid Magistrates Court

The two men were formally charged with being in possession of suspected stolen property.

They are expected to make their first court appearance on Monday, 22 December 2025, at the Vryheid Magistrates Court as investigations continue.
