On Monday, police in Mpumalanga arrested two men in connection with the alleged kidnapping and robbery of a German tourist in Graskop.

The attack occurred shortly after the victim made a cash withdrawal from an ATM located at a local fuel station. The swift action by police was prompted by a concerned citizen who alerted authorities to the ongoing crime.

Police Response and Arrest

According to police spokesperson Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the information provided to the police indicated that the suspects were travelling in a Hyundai SUV.

During this critical period, police were actively engaged in a Safer Festive Season operation, allowing them to promptly act on the gathered intelligence.

Their quick response facilitated the successful interception of the vehicle, with the suspects being located and arrested in nearby bushes. Thankfully, the tourist was rescued alive, although he suffered injuries during the attack.
