Tshwane Urges Nightclubs To Comply With Municipal Bylaws

The City of Tshwane Mayor, Cilliers Brink, has issued a formal call to nightclubs and bars within the metro to adhere strictly to municipal bylaws. This directive follows the temporary closure of four establishments and the issuance of various fines to non-compliant businesses.
Over the past weekend, the Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) led a multistakeholder by-law enforcement operation targeting nightclubs and bars in Lynnwood and Hatfield.
This operation also involved several other departments, including the Emergency Services Department (ESD), Local Economic Development, and Health Department. The focus was not only on municipal bylaws but also on the city’s safety regulations and national building legislation.

During the operation, the team identified numerous violations, such as overcrowding, inadequate fire safety measures, noise pollution, and the absence of necessary permits. These issues necessitated the temporary closure of the establishments until compliance could be demonstrated.
Mayor Brink emphasized the importance of businesses familiarizing themselves with applicable legislation, including bylaws, to ensure that their establishments meet all safety and regulatory standards.
“The city of Tshwane urges all business owners to familiarize themselves with the applicable legislation, including bylaws, and to ensure that their establishments meet all safety and regulatory standards,” Brink asserted.
The city remains committed to supporting compliant businesses and fostering a safe and vibrant nightlife for all.
Non-compliance, however, will result in stringent actions including potential closures to protect patrons, employees, and the surrounding communities from potential hazards and disturbances.
