Tshwane Council To Decide On CFO Gareth Mnisi Suspension Amid Tender Rigging Allegations

The future of City of Tshwane chief financial officer Gareth Mnisi remains uncertain as the municipal council convenes to deliberate on his possible suspension.

Mnisi has been named at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, where allegations surfaced accusing him of manipulating and influencing tender processes.

Addressing a media briefing on Thursday morning, Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya confirmed that councillors will examine claims of misconduct linked to Mnisi. His name emerged during testimony by Sergeant Fannie Nkosi before the commission.

Tshwane Tender Rigging Allegations Under Scrutiny

Evidence presented to the inquiry suggests that Mnisi and Nkosi allegedly worked together to steer municipal tenders towards selected bidders.

Moya stressed that the municipality is treating the matter with the seriousness it demands.

“In respect of the CFO, a disciplinary report is being tabled before today’s council meeting to initiate a process of his precautionary suspension.

“Given the central role of his office, the matter is being dealt with in a manner that safeguards the city’s financial systems and maintains public confidence. However, it’s important that we know that Mr Mnisi has been home and hasn’t been to work all week.”

In addition to the tender-related allegations, the city is also probing concerns surrounding Mnisi’s finances and professional disclosures.

Officials are examining claims of unexplained wealth, as well as alleged failures to declare business interests and inaccuracies in his curriculum vitae.
