Trump Lashes Out At South Africa, Says No US Officials Will Attend G20 ‘Afrikaners Are Being Slaughtered’

United States President Donald Trump has announced that no US government officials will attend the upcoming G20 Summit in Johannesburg, accusing South Africa of “human rights abuses” and alleging that white Afrikaners are being “killed and slaughtered” and their farms “illegally confiscated.”
Trump made the announcement on Truth Social, declaring:
“It is a total disgrace that the G20 will be held in South Africa. Afrikaners, people who are descended from Dutch, French, and German settlers, are being killed and slaughtered, and their land and farms are being illegally confiscated. No US government official will attend as long as these human rights abuses continue.”

He added that he intends to host the 2026 G20 Summit in Miami, Florida instead.
DIRCO Hits Back at Trump’s ‘False and Misleading’ Claims
The comments sparked immediate backlash from the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO), which dismissed Trump’s statements as “false and misleading narratives” that lack credible evidence.
DIRCO said the claim of a so-called “white genocide” has been widely discredited, adding:
“South Africa remains a constitutional democracy that upholds the rule of law and protects the rights of all its citizens.”
Spokesperson Chrispin Phiri, speaking on behalf of Minister Ronald Lamola, told SurgeZirc SA that the idea of racial persecution in South Africa “is simply not factual.”
“We refute that these individuals are persecuted on the grounds of race or language. The idea that a particular race is being targeted on crime is also not founded on any evidence,” he said.

G20 Summit Still Set for Johannesburg
The G20 Summit is scheduled to take place in Johannesburg later this month, with world leaders expected to gather for key discussions on trade, climate, and global economic stability.
Despite Trump’s remarks, South Africa says preparations are continuing as planned, and official invitations to other member states remain unaffected.
