U.S. President Donald Trump revealed on Monday that he intends to file a massive $15 billion lawsuit against The New York Times for defamation and libel.

His announcement comes just days after the paper published articles examining his connections to disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein.

“Today, I have the Great Honor of bringing a $15 Billion Dollar Defamation and Libel Lawsuit against The New York Times,” Trump declared in a post on his Truth Social platform.

The lawsuit, according to the president, will be filed in Florida, although he did not provide additional details on the timing or specific claims that should be expected.

Trump Accuses NYT of Targeting Him and His Movements

In his statement, the president accused The New York Times of spreading falsehoods about him, his family, his businesses, and political movements he champions, including “America First” and “Make America Great Again” (MAGA).

The controversy stems from recent reports about a sexually suggestive note and drawing allegedly given to Epstein, which Trump claims the newspaper misrepresented.

Trump’s supporters quickly rallied behind the announcement. One reader on the New York Post wrote: “Correct they don’t expect to have to pay after all they are in New York where being a Republican is surely a crime and where Democrats can pick and choose which laws they will follow with little worry of consequences.

“The Trump trial was a sham in what American world would a judge deny expert witnesses on loans and land value in a real estate fraud case not in mom and dad’s America that’s for sure.”

The lawsuit marks another chapter in the president’s long-running feud with the media, particularly outlets he accuses of bias against him.
