Trolley Assistant Arrested After Kidnapped Girl (17) Found Locked In Informal Dwelling
A 30-year-old trolley assistant has been arrested after Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) located a 17-year-old student who was allegedly kidnapped, assaulted and held at gunpoint in Blackburn, KwaZulu-Natal.
Family Reports R10 000 Ransom Demand
The teen was last seen on Saturday when she left home to buy food at a local supermarket.
Her family searched for eight hours without success before receiving a R10 000 ransom demand from an unknown man.
They reported the matter to RUSA at around 01:00 on Sunday.

Reaction Officers circulated her details and began following up on several leads, including information suggesting she had been taken to a home in Blackburn.
Drone Pilot Tracks Trolley Assistant After Heavy Rain
Due to heavy overnight rain and inaccessible roads, RUSA deployed a drone once weather cleared.
The drone pilot spotted suspicious movement around an informal dwelling, prompting officers to approach the area on foot.
The suspect attempted to flee but was caught by Reaction Officers shortly afterwards. The teen was found locked inside the informal home shown in the video supplied to RUSA.
According to reports, the trolley assistant — who is known to the teen — offered her lunch before allegedly forcing her into a white vehicle and taking her to the residence where she was held overnight.

The victim told officers she was repeatedly raped and felt a firearm pressed against her back while being threatened with death.
She said she believed she was going to be killed and was unaware that a ransom demand had been made to her family.
The suspect was detained and handed over to the South African Police Service.
A case has been opened at SAPS Verulam under CAS 337/11/2025.
