A devastating accident occurred on the N2 between Richards Bay and KwaGingindlovu, resulting in the loss of three lives and leaving five individuals in critical condition.

The incident took place near Fairbreeze Mine during heavy rain on Sunday. Authorities reported that two vehicles collided on this busy route, prompting immediate emergency response measures.

Government Plea for Caution

In light of this tragic event, the KwaZulu-Natal government has issued a plea for caution among motorists. Ndabazinhle Sibiya, the spokesperson for the MEC for Transport, confirmed that the northbound lane has been closed to facilitate cleanup operations.

Sibiya emphasized the importance of heeding weather warnings, especially as the province is under an orange level 6 weather warning, predicting heavy rainfall across the region.
