Top SAPS General Molefe Isaac Fani Suspended Over Alleged PPE Procurement Misconduct

Lieutenant General (Dr) Molefe Isaac Fani, the South African Police Service’s (SAPS) Divisional Commissioner for Supply Chain Management, has been suspended over alleged misconduct linked to PPE procurement.

The suspension relates to Fani’s previous role as acting head of procurement at the National Treasury during the procurement of personal protective equipment.

SAPS confirmed that the suspension follows internal disciplinary procedures, including a formal notice of intention to suspend and an opportunity for Fani to respond to the allegations.

SAPS Launches Disciplinary Process Against Fani

As Divisional Commissioner for Supply Chain Management, Fani oversaw procurement and supply chain functions within the South African Police Service.

The disciplinary action forms part of SAPS accountability processes linked to allegations stemming from his earlier tenure at the Treasury.
