Tony Forbes ‘Pleased’ As AKA’s Alleged Killers Dragged Back To SA In Shackles

Tony Forbes ‘Pleased’ As AKA’s Alleged Killers Dragged Back To SA In Shackles

Relief and emotion washed over Tony Forbes, father of slain rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, after two of his son’s alleged killers finally touched down on South African soil.

Brothers arrive in shackles after high-risk transfer

Siyabonga and Malusi Ndimande, who were arrested in Mbabane, Eswatini, in February, were extradited to South Africa after a drawn-out legal fight. The brothers had fought to stay in Eswatini, claiming their lives would be in danger if returned.

Their dramatic handover on Tuesday morning saw Interpol South Africa and SAPS tactical teams escorting them through King Shaka International Airport in shackles, before rushing them to the Durban Central police station. They are expected to appear in court soon.

The pair face multiple murder charges, including the high-profile assassinations of AKA and his friend Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane outside Wish restaurant on Florida Road in February 2023.

Police confirmed that the brothers are also linked to two other killings involving taxi industry figures in KwaZulu-Natal — bringing the total number of suspects arrested in the case to seven.

Tony Forbes: ‘It’s been a long time coming’

Speaking to eNCA, Tony Forbes said he was not celebrating but finally felt “satisfied” that justice was moving forward.

“Excitement is probably not the right word, but I am pleased they have arrived,” he said. “It’s been a long time coming. I hope that when the trial starts, all seven will be on trial together — especially the brother who pulled the trigger.”

He praised the investigating team and the NPA for keeping him informed throughout the two-year process, describing the extradition as “a long, complex road”.

“Today it is happening, so I am very pleased with that,” Tony added quietly.
