Three Suspected Criminals Killed In Shootout With Police In Durban

Three suspected criminals have been killed during a shootout with police in KwaZulu-Natal.
Police said the suspects were linked to several serious crimes, including kidnapping, fraud and the possession of illegal firearms.
The incident unfolded in Mariannhill, west of Durban, on Wednesday morning after officers acted on intelligence gathered about the trio.
SAPS Tracks Suspects Linked To Kidnapping And Fraud
According to South African Police Service spokesperson Robert Netshiunda, officers located the suspects travelling in a vehicle along Milky Way Road.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the suspects allegedly refused to comply.

“Police spotted the suspects driving along Milky Way Road and attempted to stop their vehicle. The suspect defied the police’s instruction and sped off,” Netshiunda said.
Mariannhill Police Chase Ends In Deadly Shootout
Police pursued the vehicle, leading to a shootout between officers and the suspects during the operation.
“Police gave chase, and during the operation, a shootout ensued. The suspect’s vehicle lost control and hit a tree,” Netshiunda added.
The three suspects were killed during the exchange of gunfire. Police have not yet released the identities of the deceased. Investigations into the matter are continuing.
