Three Arrested After Kidnapping In Kagiso, Victim Rescued Within 24 Hours

Police in Gauteng have arrested three suspects and rescued a kidnapping victim within 24 hours of the crime in Kagiso.

The suspects, aged between 23 and 25, were apprehended in the early hours of Saturday, May 2, following a coordinated operation by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that the 30-year-old victim has since been reunited with their family.

“In the early hours of May 1, 2026, a case of housebreaking and kidnapping was reported after a house in Kagiso was broken into by unknown suspects who then abducted the victim and reportedly demanded a ransom of R500,000 from the family,” Nevhuhulwi said.

A multi-disciplinary task team, including West Rand Crime Intelligence, Kagiso Visible Policing, West Rand TRIO detectives, Highway Patrol, and the K9 unit, was activated immediately.

Kagiso Kidnapping: Suspects Traced and Arrested in Tshepisong

“Through intelligence-driven operation and technical surveillance, the team traced the suspects to a premises in Tshepisong Phase 1. Three suspects were apprehended at the scene, and the team further seized a white Suzuki bakkie, Capitec bank cards, and cell phones believed to have been used in the commission of the crime. The victim has since been reunited with family,” Nevhuhulwi said.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Kagiso Magistrate’s Court on May 4, 2026, where they will face charges of kidnapping and extortion.
