LOOK! Brazen Thokoza CIT Robbery Leaves 13-Year-Old Girl Wounded

Police are hunting for an unknown number of suspects following a brazen cash-in-transit (CIT) robbery in Thokoza on Saturday afternoon, which left a young girl injured.

The dramatic heist unfolded shortly after 13h30 on 27 December 2025, sending shock through the community.

Armoured Vehicle Capsizes In Thokoza After Deliberate Collision

According to police reports, the cash-in-transit armoured vehicle was travelling through Thokoza when it was deliberately rammed by a white Mercedes-Benz, causing it to overturn.

Several suspects then rushed the scene, disarming the security officers guarding the vehicle.

The attackers proceeded to bomb the armoured van and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Gunfire Erupts as Suspects Target Escort Vehicle

As the robbery unfolded, other suspects opened fire on the escort vehicle, creating chaos and panic in the area.

During the exchange of gunfire, a 13-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet. She was rushed to hospital for medical treatment. Her condition has not been disclosed.

Suspects Flee in Four Vehicles as Manhunt Intensifies

After the robbery, the suspects fled the scene in four different vehicles, evading immediate arrest.

Police have since launched a large-scale manhunt and are appealing for information that could assist in tracking down those responsible.
