WATCH| Tesla Cybertruck Explodes Outside Trump Las Vegas Hotel, Leaving One Dead

A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside President-elect Donald Trump’s international hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, leaving one person dead and seven others injured, police confirmed.

The incident occurred as the Cybertruck approached the hotel entrance. Eyewitnesses reported flames and smaller explosions resembling fireworks before the vehicle burst into a large blaze.

Tesla’s Response to the Incident

Tesla CEO Elon Musk took to his platform X (formerly Twitter) to address the incident, stating that the explosion was caused by “very large fireworks and/or a bomb” placed in the bed of the rented Cybertruck.

Musk clarified that the explosion was unrelated to the vehicle itself, adding:

“The evil knuckleheads picked the wrong vehicle for a terrorist attack. Cybertruck actually contained the explosion and directed the blast upwards. Not even the glass doors of the lobby were broken.”

Tesla has launched an internal investigation, with Musk emphasising, “We’ve never seen anything like this.”

Limited Damage Due to Cybertruck Design

Despite the magnitude of the explosion, police highlighted the resilience of the Cybertruck.

“The explosion went up and out,” Las Vegas Police stated, crediting the vehicle’s design for minimising damage to the Trump Hotel.

FBI agent Jeremy Schwartz described the blast as an “isolated incident” and assured the public that no widespread threat was detected.

Connections to New Orleans Attack?

Authorities are investigating potential links to another attack earlier on Wednesday in New Orleans, where a truck rammed into a crowd, killing 15 people and injuring dozens.

Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill acknowledged concerns, noting:

“It’s a Tesla truck, and we know Elon Musk is working with President-elect Trump, and it’s the Trump tower. So there are things to be concerned about.”

President Joe Biden confirmed federal agencies are probing connections between the two events.
