Ten Armed Robbers Arrested, VW Car Seized As Police Foil Robbery

On Saturday, November 9, 2024, law enforcement agencies executed a tactical operation that led to the swift arrest of ten suspected armed robbers in Christiana, North West Province.

The operation was initiated following the receipt of actionable intelligence regarding a criminal group planning armed robberies at fuel garages in Warrenton, Northern Cape.

At approximately 10:00, units from crime intelligence, the Kimberley flying squad, and the Hartswater highway patrol converged on the identified residence in Christiana. Upon arrival, they found ten suspects on the premises, who were believed to be plotting their nefarious activities.
Seizures and Ongoing Investigations
During the investigation, a pistol was discovered in one of the suspect’s vehicles, alongside various tools suspected of being used in criminal activities. The arrested suspects, aged between 40 and 65, originated from the East Rand in Gauteng.

They now face multiple charges, including illegal possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of housebreaking equipment, and potential violations of the Immigration Act. Authorities also seized a Volkswagen Polo 8, valued at R301,000.
Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, praised the timely action of the law enforcement team and highlighted the importance of community information-sharing in facilitating these arrests, ultimately contributing to the prevention of serious crimes in the region.
