Tembisa On Edge As Second School Principal Shot Dead At Home In A Month

Tembisa, east of Johannesburg, has been left shaken following the fatal shooting of another school principal, intensifying fears over the safety of educators in the area.

The 61-year-old principal was attacked at his home in the early hours of Sunday during what police believe was a robbery. He was shot and killed during the incident.

Police say the attack unfolded shortly after midnight when a group of suspects forced entry into the house, targeting the victim and his family.

Suspected Robbery Turns Deadly in Tembisa Home Invasion

According to police, four men allegedly broke into the residence using an axe before robbing the occupants. The suspects reportedly made off with cash, laptops and cellphones before fleeing the scene.

Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuluwi confirmed that no arrests have been made so far. A manhunt is under way, and investigations into the killing are continuing.

The latest killing comes just weeks after another deadly incident involving educators in Tembisa. In November, a school principal and an administrative staff member from Inxiweni Primary School were shot and killed on school premises.

Both victims were declared dead at the scene, and two suspects have since been arrested in connection with that case.

The back-to-back killings have heightened anxiety among teachers and school communities, with renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect educators both at school and at home.
