Telkom Posts Strong Interim Results As Data Strategy Accelerates Revenue Growth

Telkom has delivered a robust set of interim results for the six months ending 30 September 2025, showing that its data-led strategy continues to pay off even as economic pressures persist.
The Group posted steady growth in both revenue and profitability, reinforcing its position in South Africa’s competitive telecoms sector.

Revenue climbed 3.4% to R22.1 billion, driven largely by surging demand for mobile and fibre-based data services. Mobile data revenue grew by 10.3%, while fibre-related data revenue increased by 12.3%, reflecting consumers’ growing reliance on high-capacity connectivity.
Data now accounts for 59.1% of Telkom’s total revenue, representing a 7.9% rise year-on-year as the business continues to reposition itself around digital-focused offerings.
Headline earnings per share improved by 16.4% to 305.6 cents, with basic earnings per share up 12.7% to 325.7 cents.
Data Growth Drives Revenue Momentum
Speaking on The Money Show with Stephen Grootes, Telkom Group CFO Nonkululeko Dlamini highlighted how the company’s value-driven offerings have strengthened its standing with consumers.
“It’s a competitive environment, and the customer is always going to look where there is value for money, and we think our value propositions have been good for our client base, for us to get this outcome,” says Dlamini.

The Group acknowledged that the remainder of the financial year is likely to be marked by muted economic activity, rising competition in mobile and fibre, and reduced ICT spend from corporate clients. Even so, Telkom’s data-centric positioning continues to provide resilience.
Market Challenges Persist but Strategy Holds Firm
Dlamini noted that the broader ICT industry is experiencing its own pressures but emphasised the company’s focus on areas where it can continue to grow.
“The overall industry is going through various challenges, if you just look in general at the IT industry. And then we look at how we can ensure that we continue to grow in the spaces that we’re operating in,” adds Dlamini.
Telkom’s consistent data expansion, strong customer value proposition and disciplined execution appear to be shielding it from some of the sector’s macro-headwinds.
