Teen Bully Faces Court For Assault, Racist And Sexual Threats Against Classmates

A 17-year-old De Kuilen High School learner has been arrested for assault and making violent sexual and racist threats against female classmates, reigniting concerns about school safety and systemic failures in addressing bullying.
Court Appearance Following November 2024 Incident
The accused, who cannot be named as he is a minor, appeared in the Kuils River Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday, 26 March 2025) on assault charges. He was released into his parents’ custody and is expected back in court today.
The case stems from an alleged November 2024 attack in which a 16-year-old girl and other female learners reported being physically assaulted and subjected to racial slurs, including threats that they should “commit suicide by cutting [their] pulse.”

Shocking Allegations of Racist and Sexual Violence
According to advocacy group Parents for Equal Education, the accused also allegedly stated:
- “I want to impregnate Black girls so I can have slaves for the rest of my life.”
- Continued racial abuse even after being disciplined by the school.
Vanessa Le Roux of Parents for Equal Education accused authorities of initially closing the case without proper investigation. “They swept this under the map. These girls received no support, and the bullying continued,” she said, demanding criminal consequences for negligent schools and principals.

School’s Disciplinary Action Deemed Insufficient
The Western Cape Education Department (WCED) confirmed the accused was found guilty in a school disciplinary hearing but did not specify the sanctions.
WCED spokesperson Bronagh Hammond urged affected learners to seek support via the Safe Schools Call Centre (0800 45 46 47) for psychological assistance.
Broader Calls for Accountability
The case has sparked outrage, with critics arguing that schools and law enforcement must take stronger action against hate speech, sexual threats, and violence among learners.
“This should be a wake-up call—schools cannot ignore racism and abuse,” Le Roux said. “We need justice before another child is harmed.”
