HP has announced the release of its updated x360 Chromebooks, which is coming with a 360-degree hinge, 4GB of memory and 32GB of storage. One of the best features of the new Chromebooks is the compatibility with the Universal Stylus Initiative’s standard.
Universal Stylus Initiative 1.0 allows stylus compatibility across any touchscreen device that has integrated the technology, which means that you’ll be able to use the same stylus for smartphones, tablet and touchscreen computers or laptops.

Universal Stylus Initiative enabled styli have more benefits than cross-compatibility. User preferences are saved in the styli themselves, this mans that color choices and ink styles can be automatically move over from one device to another.
More than one user can write or draw on a device simultaneously, making Universal Stylus Initiative compatible tablets and computers ideal for collaboration. Universal Stylus Initiative says that partners can build out additional features.
In terms of what HP is announcing, CNET says that the new x360 Chromebooks will be released this week in 12-inch and 14-inch models, and it will cost $359 and $379 each.
The lower model has an Intel UHD Graphics 620 chip and the battery will last for 12 hours while the higher one has an Intel UHD Graphics 600 chip and and the battery will last for 10 hours. We doubt if the $70 USI Pen stylus will be launching alongside the Chromebooks, and it won’t be out in the market until November.
HP assured that we’ll most likely see more USI-enabled devices in the market soon. Key partners like Google and Intel are now putting USI products together, but HP’s USI Pen is the only significant one that we are sure that is ready to be released. Be that as it may, a single-stylus solution sounds a lot more appealing than carrying around one per device, but we hope that more products will be released pretty soon.
