Tebogo Mnisi, Accused Of Killing Mamelodi Sisters, Appears In Court And Abandons Bail

The family of a Mamelodi man who was shot during a violent incident that claimed the lives of two young women say he has been left severely wounded.

Desmond Senong was attacked in the early hours of Sunday, allegedly by the same man accused of killing 21-year-old Baleseng and 22-year-old Tshiamo Moramaga. The women were found shot and left for dead just metres from their home in Mamelodi East after a night out.

Tebogo Mnisi, 38, appeared in court on Wednesday facing five charges, including two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. He has abandoned bail.

Details of the Shooting and Victims’ Night Out in Mamelodi

Senong had spent Saturday night out at a local venue with cousins Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga. According to his sister, Mpho Masingi, the accused, believed to be one of the women’s boyfriends, spotted them as they were leaving.

“They partied the whole night until they decided to leave at 02:30 in the morning. He left with another lady. As soon as he left and walked through one of the passages, the accused followed him and stopped him. That’s when he shot him, but my brother managed to escape and get home, where he called for help,” Masingi said.

She added that Senong was shot twice in his private parts. Although he was discharged from hospital on Tuesday, he returned after experiencing a difficult night.

Mnisi now faces multiple charges, including murder, attempted murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

The Mamelodi community has turned out in large numbers to support the families of Tshiamo and Baleseng Moramaga, mourning the sisters’ deaths and standing by their relatives during this traumatic time.
