Suspect To Appear In Court Over Rape And Murder In Limpopo

A suspect is expected to appear in the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court in Limpopo following the harrowing incident involving the rape of two teenage girls and the murder of one of them. The tragic events took place in Ga-Mokaba village, located outside Mokopane.

According to reports, the two girls, aged 13 and 17, were hitchhiking when an unknown motorist picked them up at Moshate Cross.

The driver initially dropped them off near Tshamahansi taxi rank but later returned, threatening the girls with a sharp object and forcing them back into the vehicle.

The police spokesperson, Malesela Ledwaba, stated that the man allegedly raped both girls and subsequently strangled the 13-year-old.

The suspect, reportedly a repeat sex offender, was apprehended, and the vehicle used in the crime was confiscated during the arrest.

Limpopo Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, praised the swift and coordinated efforts of the police team.

She emphasized that the prompt response showcased the dedication and commitment of the officers to bringing justice to the victims and their families.
