Suspect Sentenced To 3 Years For Theft
A 26-year-old suspect, Sello Mashego, has been sentenced to three years in prison for his involvement in a stock theft case in Marble Hall, Sekhukhune District.
According to a SAPS statement late Thursday, the Nebo Regional Court handed down the sentence on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.

The suspect was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to the charges.

History Of Offence Leading to Sentence

The case dates back to February 22, 2024, when six cattle were stolen from a kraal in Mogaung village by the suspect.

Three of the stolen cattle managed to escape and return home, while the remaining three were led into the bush near Moeding village.
Following an intensive police investigation, the stolen cattle were recovered and Mashego was arrested and charged.

Police Commitment To  More Sentencing To End Stock Theft

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, commended the investigating officers for their dedication and swift action in ensuring justice.

Hadebe further urged livestock owners to continue branding their livestock and to report any suspicious activity to the police without delay.
Hadebe in the statement, pledges continuous engagement by the Marble Hall Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit (STES) in combating stock theft in the region.
