Suspect Caught Red-Handed And Apprehended At Linden Property

A brazen trespasser was caught in the act at a property located on 1st Avenue, Linden.

The suspect, a male individual, was apprehended by responding officers at 11:07 AM, on Monday.

He was arrested just three minutes after the initial call was received.

Eye Witness Account

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect was scavenging for valuable materials, including metal pieces and copper wire, with the intention of selling them at a nearby scrapyard.

When questioned, the suspect claimed he thought the property was unoccupied, despite clear signs of recent habitation.

Officers Investigation

Further investigation revealed that the suspect gained entry to the property by jumping over the gate, crawling through a broken window, and accessing the roof through the ceiling board.

It appears the suspect was attempting to strip the property of any remaining materials, following a previous looting incident.

The swift response by the security team and the subsequent apprehension of the suspect have been praised by local residents.

“We are grateful for the prompt action taken by the security team,” said one neighbours.

“This sends a strong message to potential trespassers that our community will not tolerate this kind of behavior.”

The Linden SAPS was contacted to assist with the case, and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect’s identity has not been released, pending further investigation.
