Summer Walker Explains Why Her SunBet Arena Show Was Cut Short: “I Got Kicked Off Stage”
Thousands of excited fans filled the SunBet Arena on Sunday, 5 October 2025, ready to sing along with American R&B sensation Summer Walker at the In The City concert. The show had been highly anticipated since its announcement in April, but the night didn’t go as planned.
Instead of a full-hour performance, Walker’s set ended abruptly — leaving the audience confused and frustrated.
“I Got Kicked Off Stage,” Says Summer Walker
After the concert, the 29-year-old Grammy-nominated artist took to social media to explain what went down.
“South Africa, I am so sorry. I don’t know what happened. I got kicked off the stage. They changed my time three times, and when I got on stage, I thought I was about to do my full set,” she said.
“They were yelling in my ear to cut my entire set halfway. I didn’t even get to go down and interact with the crowd like I usually do because they were telling me to wrap it up. That wasn’t my intention. I was prepared to do my full hour. The police, fire marshal, and promoters said they would get fined if I didn’t get off stage.”
Walker assured her fans that she had arrived on time and was prepared to perform her entire show.
Singer Promises Full Performance on Her Return
In a gesture of appreciation, the “Girls Need Love” hitmaker invited a fan — who reportedly sold their house to attend her show — to the after-party. She also promised South Africans a full performance on her next visit.

Despite the disappointment, fans showed love for the artist on social media, praising her transparency and hoping she’ll make it up with a longer set in the future.
