Springboks Drop Blockbuster ‘Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry’ Teaser Ahead Of 2026 All Blacks Tour

Springboks Drop Blockbuster ‘Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry’ Teaser Ahead Of 2026 All Blacks Tour

The Springboks have set pulses racing after unveiling an electrifying cinematic teaser to celebrate their upcoming 2026 showdown with the All Blacks.

The South African Rugby Union (SARU) released the short film, titled “Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry,” on Thursday, sparking huge anticipation among fans around the world.

The teaser coincides with the announcement that South Africa will host New Zealand for three massive Test matches next year – a historic event that promises to reignite one of rugby’s fiercest rivalries.

Rugby Championship Paused for Nations League Launch

The 2026 series will replace the traditional Rugby Championship, which has been temporarily shelved to make room for World Rugby’s new Nations Championship, set for July and November.

The move comes as rugby officials restructure the global calendar. The four-nation Rugby Championship — featuring South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and Argentina — will resume in 2027 with its full line-up, despite it being a Rugby World Cup year.

Fans can also look forward to additional action, with the All Blacks playing four warm-up matches against South African provincial sides before the main Tests. The highly anticipated tour will run from 7 August to 12 September 2026.

Future of Southern Hemisphere Rugby Takes Shape

Confirming the schedule changes, SANZAAR CEO Brendan Morris said on Thursday:

“Looking ahead, our joint venture is committed to driving the next chapter of Southern Hemisphere rugby. After listening to what supporters, broadcasters and our stakeholders want, we’ve worked with the unions to craft a bold and dynamic schedule.”

It has also been confirmed that there will be no Rugby Championship in 2030, marking another strategic pause as the sport evolves globally.
