French Top 14 club, Perpignan, announced on Tuesday that South African second-row player, Marvin Orie, will join them next season on a two-year contract.
The 30-year-old, who currently plays for the Stormers, recently started in the Rugby Championship victory over Australia but will be absent from the upcoming match against New Zealand.
Orie is expected to represent his country in the upcoming Rugby World Cup in France, with the tournament ending on October 28. South Africa aims to defend their Webb Ellis trophy in this prestigious event.
“Perpignan confirms the signing of the South African second row for two years,” the club announced. “He will join his new teammates once he fulfills his commitments with the Springboks.”
The only surprising inclusion in the Rugby Championship training squad for the Springboks is the impending arrival of a prominent former Irish star.
With the new Top 14 season commencing on August 18, a seven-week hiatus will be taken to accommodate the World Cup.
