In a hard-fought encounter against Argentina, Springbok flyhalf Manie Libbok acknowledges the valuable lessons learned despite a narrow 22-21 victory over the Pumas last weekend.
“Although it may not have appeared so, we displayed glimpses of excellence against a formidable opponent,” Libbok asserted.

“The match turned into a gritty battle, and I’m proud of how we persevered. We kept pushing forward, never backing down, and ultimately secured the win.”
Libbok acknowledged the Pumas’ expertise in turning games into intense battles, a tactic that has troubled even the All Blacks and Wallabies.
“The Pumas have a knack for putting teams under immense pressure and slowing down the game,” he explained. “Losing Grant (Williams) early in the match was unfortunate. He was set for a big performance, and I hope he recovers swiftly.”
Grateful for the presence of experienced player Faf de Klerk, who eased the burden in only his second starting appearance, Libbok expressed his delight at scoring his first try in Test rugby.
He credited his hard work on cross kicks, which paid off during the match. “I’m constantly learning, especially from seasoned players like Handre Pollard,” Libbok emphasized.
“Their guidance is invaluable, and I’m thankful for the opportunities to play and grow. Each game is a unique learning experience, and I embrace the challenge of starting.”

Despite the aspiration to represent his country at the World Cup, Libbok remains grounded and focused on the present. He humbly stated:
“Playing at the World Cup is a dream, but I’m not looking too far ahead, the competition at flyhalf is fierce, and I’m fully committed to making the most of every opportunity. My priority is to give my all for the team, and if I’m fortunate enough to be selected, it would be a dream come true.”
