Khuzwayo: “Chiefs Treated Me Like A Side Chick In Favour Of Khune”

During an interview on Gagasi FM's Extra Time show, Khuzwayo subtly criticized Chiefs, pointing out that the team's last trophy win occurred when he was in goal.

Former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper, Brilliant Khuzwayo, recently spoke out about his experiences at the club, revealing that he felt like a “side chick” due to the favouritism shown towards Itumeleng Khune.

Despite performing better than Khune at times, Khuzwayo found himself playing second fiddle to the club’s regular starter.

During an interview on Gagasi FM’s Extra Time show, Khuzwayo subtly criticized Chiefs, pointing out that the team’s last trophy win occurred when he was in goal. He acknowledged that supporters still favoured Khune, even when the numbers didn’t add up.

Khuzwayo expressed his frustration, stating that Khune often received the number one spot without working hard for it. This injustice was one of the reasons he decided to leave Chiefs, as he felt like he was always in the shadow of Khune.

In the meantime, Itumeleng Khune has resumed training with the rest of the Chiefs team after serving his suspension. Khune was suspended by the club following reports that he arrived at training under the influence of alcohol.

During his absence, Bruce Bvuma has stepped up and performed well in goal for Amakhosi. His impressive displays have even earned him a call-up for the FIFA series in Algeria next week.
