Kaizer Chiefs recently faced repercussions after their supporters displayed unruly behaviour during a match against Mamelodi Sundowns. The clash, which took place on the 28th of September 2024, ended in a 2-1 loss for the Chiefs.
Fans became agitated when referee Skhumbuzo Gasa disallowed Edson Castillo’s late equalizer, leading to objects being thrown onto the field.
PSL’s Response to Misconduct
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) took swift action following the incident. PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu confirmed that Kaizer Chiefs appeared before the league’s disciplinary committee to address charges related to spectator misbehaviour.

Impact of Previous Violations
This latest fine adds to an already existing suspended penalty from a previous incident last season, compounding their financial obligations. In total, the Chiefs will effectively be paying R150,000 for this misconduct, in addition to the costs incurred for the disciplinary sitting. Such penalties emphasize the need for clubs to maintain control over their supporters and ensure that matches remain safe and enjoyable for all.
