Chiefs Coach Expresses Frustration With Match Officials After AmaZulu Draw

Johnson's frustration stemmed from the fact that he had not yet seen the offside position of Victor Letsoalo during Amazulu's goal. This revelation would have provided him with a stronger argument than his other complaints.

Cavin Johnson, the head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, has once again voiced his dissatisfaction with the match officials following a 1-1 draw with Amazulu in a DStv Premiership encounter.

Despite acknowledging his team’s missed opportunities, Johnson believed that Chiefs should have been awarded a free kick in the build-up to Amazulu’s goal and that his side should have been given a penalty.

Johnson’s frustration stemmed from the fact that he had not yet seen the offside position of Victor Letsoalo during Amazulu’s goal. This revelation would have provided him with a stronger argument than his other complaints.

“The goal they scored against us, I thought it was a free kick to us beforehand,” Johnson stated. “The players switched off, which is not normal. It was a good cross and a cheap goal, but I thought it was not necessary from the official. He should have given us a free kick. Also, I think it was a penalty, and I think it was a red card.”

Johnson also raised concerns about decisions that went against his team in their previous match against TS Galaxy, where Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove was sent off.

Despite securing a point in the match against Amazulu, Johnson expressed disappointment and emphasised the need for his team to convert their scoring opportunities. “We should have got three points,” he added.

“We drew the last game, we drew this one. We are putting in the effort, but we are not scoring the goals. We have to be calmer in front of the goal. You have to put away your chances, especially the clear ones.”

Looking ahead, Chiefs will face Polokwane City on Saturday at FNB Stadium, with both teams vying for a place in the top eight.
