The magic of Bafana Bafana is back! The 2024 success of our beloved team has brought fans streaming back into the stadiums.

This excitement follows the electrifying atmosphere of packed stadiums in Mangaung and Gqeberha for Bafana home qualifiers earlier this year.
It’s only in Gauteng that attendance has been a bit dismal, like during the opening AFCON Group K qualifier against Uganda in September. But elsewhere? Fans can’t get enough!
Packed Stadiums and Roaring Crowds For Bafana Bafana
In June, Mangaung was buzzing as a full house watched Bafana beat Zimbabwe 3-1 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying. Then in October, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium was lit with fans who came to see Bafana hammer Congo-Brazzaville 5-0 in AFCON qualifying.
It seems taking games outside of Gauteng has been a genius move to get the fans roaring back.

Cape Town fans, who last saw a Bafana game nearly nine years ago when South Africa took on Angola in an international friendly in June 2015, are starved for action. No doubt, this long gap has played a role in the rush for tickets to Bafana’s game against South Sudan.
The last AFCON or World Cup qualifier in Cape Town was way back in September 2014 against Nigeria, which ended in a 0-0 draw. But this time, fans are pumped and ready!
A Revival Under Hugo Broos
Let’s not forget the remarkable comeback Bafana has made under Belgian head coach Hugo Broos. They kicked off the year with a surprise bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ivory Coast. Then they picked up four crucial points in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying in June and are currently tied at the top of their group with seven points.

And guess what? They qualified for the 2025 AFCON with two games to spare! They beat Uganda in Kampala on Friday, and with a win over South Sudan, they’ll cement their top spot in Group K.
So, let’s show up in full force and cheer our team on. Go Bafana Bafana!
